Anna Kondrateva is a painter based in Saint Petersburg.
Artist statement
Stillness,
observation,
presence.
Anna works in realism and figurative painting, focusing on the quiet beauty of everyday life, moments of stillness, and the subtle sense of time that emerges through observation.
In her portraits, she works with real people, seeking to convey character and inner presence without unnecessary dramatization. When painting subjects beyond the human figure, she is drawn to color, form, and the relationships between them, using these elements to evoke the same sense of stillness and contemplation.
Rooted in the academic tradition, Anna’s practice places particular emphasis on color relationships and close observation. A light palette and restrained brushwork give her paintings a sense of calm and harmony, inviting the viewer to slow down and notice the beauty of simple, quiet moments.
